Avoiding church

Since the announcement of The Curate's departure (last service 22nd May), I have been avoiding church. Coward? Yes. Having experienced one service since the announcement, where I seemed to have become invisible to some people, I am staying away until the dust has settled.
The Curate is fielding quite a few disappointed people. Others think it is great that the Bishops have decided that The Curate and I might actually be better together than apart. They are aware that I tried to get work up near The Curate. Too old, too expensive and too experienced. I'm not in a good place right now but I will get over it. A little space and God's grace is all that is needed - so off to walk the dogs and get blown about on the beach. ( The Curate is at church).

Hi there,
Suddenly becoming invisible is one of the more shocking church phenomena. You suddenly realize who was being nice to you because of your church position rather than because of who you were and how much they liked you!!
Walking the dogs on the beach=balm.
Blessings,
Anita

Hello, Thank you for your comment. I am constantly surprised by people's behaviour (good and not so good). Walking on the beach certainly sorted me out. We move away from the sea very shortly and swap the sea for open moor. We are very blessed despite logistical difficulties!

The Moor has magical associations for me--because of my teenage reading of the Brontes and Thomas Hardy. It sounds wonderful to me!
I can imagine how one's perspective could shift and broaden in those wide-open spaces!!

More Hound of the Baskervilles than Wuthering Heights or Tess of the d'Urbervilles. But still inspiring.
